Dear parents, Dear family, Dear friends, So many surprises, So many stories,
Thank you!
Sophie and I are immensely touched, immensely moved, immensely happy to share this very special day, so unique, so symbolic, with you and with all the people who are in other places but very present in our thoughts.
The Little Prince was evoked during the ceremony and this day is perhaps comparable to a shooting star.
Like children, we imagined it, we hoped for it, we watched for it, we prepared for it, and it is suddenly crossing, for a moment, the starry sky of this beautiful summer night, ephemeral, unforgettable. It is signing the sky with the luminous line of our union.
The other stars are just as extraordinary. They guide the sailors. They inspire the artists. “The time has come to light the stars again”. Guillaume Apollinaire writes these words during World War One darkest hours. This is because stars are simply essential. The stars invite us to look further …
For us dear parents, dear family, dear friends, for us, You are the other stars of this day!
You surrounded us before our shooting star came through you came from France, Switzerland, Italy, from across the Atlantic Ocean to watch our shooting star with us and you will remain with us after the feast is over.
We love you, and just like children, we keep watching further in the sky for your upcoming shooting stars.
In conclusion, Here are two memories we’d like to share. The first one took place in Talade (between Bordeaux and Toulouse) last fall and the second one here in Ile de Ré a few years ago.
For our engagement, the day our families first met, Geneviève and Gabriel arrived with a walnut tree which had made the 400 mile trip from Grenoble. It had made the whole trip like that, without moving.
It was time to plant it and hope for the best… While Frédéric and I committed to each other on this October sunny Sunday, Philippe adopted the walnut tree as a memory of our engagement
Like the Little Prince, Philippe has been taking care of it for ten months now and “it is the time that Philippe wastes taking care of the walnut tree that makes this walnut tree so important.”
You probably know that Frédéric likes to post videos on YouTube. But the video you are going to see now cannot be found on YouTube. It is as family that we’re watching it now.
Thank you!
